Hello everyone, today I’m sharing links to 5 lovely posts I enjoyed this week; I hope you’ll find them as inspiring as I did.
1 – The White Company Spring/Summer 2011 Collection by Will at Bright Bazaar.

The latest collection from The White Company offers a range of gorgeous neutrals and white hues that are perfect for summer entertaining.
2 – Ikea’s inspiring blog: Livet Hemma by Holly at Decor8.

IKEA launched an inspiring blog in Sweden called Livet Hemma, or in English, Life at Home. If you open the page in Google Chrome you can translate the Swedish text into English so that you can read it. At Livet Hemma, they style and create inspiring images to inspire customers who shop IKEA to look at their products in a fresh, new way.
3 – The Mill House, photo Lindman by Vilde at My Scandinavian Retreat.

A delightful summerhouse in pure Nordic style.
4 – A family home in Paris by Danielle at Style Files.

This is the beautiful Parisian home of the owners of stylish children’s boutique Noro in Paris. After an extensive renovation of six months owner Clair could start with the fun part: decorating!
5 – Photographer Mai Linh by Emma at Emmas designblogg.

I found photographer Mai Linh today and wanted to share. (…) Now I got to browse her entire portfolio and found some new favourites! Check out the bath tub in the last pic, have you ever seen anything like it?

Cristina,
Looking at all the photos you’ve shown here from the 5 links, I’m reminded of something I often wonder. Why does white seem to be almost synonymous with design? Whenever I see all that white I immediately think, “Those people don’t have any kids!” In truth though, I’m not really comfortable with having a lot of white around, kids or not. Doesn’t white create stress about keeping a room clean? How can people relax among all that need for cleanliness? Give me wood and non-white neutrals any day.
Regards, Alison

Alison, what can I say…I love white in all its shades. It opens up the space, reflects light and makes me feel free… I especially like it for walls and ceiling, and some of the furniture, although I always warm it up with wood and splashes of colour.
I don’t have kids, but I do have two cats who roam in and out of the house all the time (imagine the muddy footprints on the floor, hair, and so on…). It’s true that white shows the dirt, but I prefer to see it so I can clean it up – although I’m not a fanatic
I think it’s all a matter of preferences, really. And by the way, once I lived in a rented flat with dark furniture and a black and white bathroom, with black floor tiles – it was a nightmare to keep clean, because dust and lint were there all the time…!
Its awesome..I loved it……
Great inspiration here! that nordic summer house is out of this world!
