A new painting

by Cristina Colli

No more bare walls! I’m thrilled to announce  that since last week I’m the proud owner of this gorgeous painting, which now hangs in our living room.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

I first saw this painting in September, when P and I went house hunting in Chipping Norton. We’d booked a week at Chippy Cottage, a lovely B & B owned by Melanie and Dave, and as soon as I stepped into the bedroom I fell in love with this large painting hanging over the bed.

I just couldn’t take my eyes off it….

After a few days I discovered that Melanie was the artist behind the beautiful painting…I didn’t think that she’d be willing to let this particular piece of art go, so I set my heart at peace….but I kept thinking how perfect it would be for our house.

Fast forward to last Friday, and…I was right: Melanie’s painting looks just perfect in our lounge!

So what do you think? I adore the colours and texture of this painting; every time I look at it I discover something different, some nuances that had escaped me before…

And every time I look at it, I stop what I’m doing for a second, and smile. What more would you want from a piece of art?

Oh, I almost forgot: beside painting, Melanie also makes gorgeous jewellery, and you can see some of her pieces in her website. Enjoy!

Cristina,
I love the painting. It really pops with all that white. I’m so attracted to white for interior design. It feels so ethereal!

Thanks Angela! You’re right, white gives a very ethereal feel to interiors…and it maximise the light, which I love.

Hi Cristina,
The paintings long horizontal shape is perfect against your white wall and I like how the yellow in the art matches your cushion on your sofa. Although I am not a particular fan of pink, in this painting, it’s beautiful and thought provoking. The fact that it makes you smile means it’s a winner!

Thank you Jenny! I too think that the long horizontal shape is just perfect for that wall, and better than a square painting.

Cristina, I absolutely LOVE that painting! And I LOVE how you’ve styled your lounge! Your photos are gorgeous and beautifully styled (but of course). My highest compliments! :-)

I not just like it, I LOVE it and wish I had it hanging in my own lounge! :-) Any chance you would take detail pix of it????

I’ll try and get some detail pictures the next time it’s sunny – it’s been overcast and foggy these past few days, and although I love the magical mood, the light is not that great for shooting.
I’ll send you pics by email :)
