When you live in Ireland, you learn to seize the moment and spend the day outside every time the sun shines. The weather forecast for last Sunday predicted: “sunny spells with scattered showers”, which pretty much sums up a typical Irish day. P and I focused on the sunny bit and headed to Kildare to visit the Irish National Studs, the Japanese Gardens and St. Fiachra’s Garden.
Will you care to join us?
By the entrance we saw many colourful flowers.

We headed first to the gardens dedicated to Saint Fiachra, patron of gardeners. The sky was hazy, and everything looked green and lush.

There were vibrant Japanese maples

a swan building her nest

a grove of dead trees submersed in water, their twisted trunks pointing to the sky like gnarled fingers.

There were many birds singing, the sound of water falling

and reproductions of ancient monastic stone buildings.

Then we toured the National Studs; we saw elegant stallions, beautiful mares, and lots of foals. Some were grazing close to mama

some were napping

and some were feeding.

Finally, a stroll through the Japanese gardens: more maple, striking against the green grass

verdant, peaceful paths

a red bridge

and a tiny waterfall.

We had a wonderful time and felt energised and refreshed; I hope you enjoyed the walk, too

Hello Cristina,
What lovely Japanese gardens! Your photos are beautiful. I will have to visit here next time I’m in Ireland. I was there years ago for a wedding, top hats and tails no less!
My own website focuses on beauty, photography and real estate. I’ve done posts on Japanese gardens and horses as well.
