About

My name is Cristina Colli and among other things I am an artist, an interior designer, a writer and a relaxed aesthete, living in Dublin Chipping Norton, UK, with a husband and two cats.

Since I was a little girl, beauty has always fascinated me.

In one of my early memories -  I must have been about 4 years old – my mother was preparing canapés and other finger food for New Year’s Eve dinner party, while one of her friends was in charge of setting the table and laying the food in trays. I watched her  laying the small appetisers artistically, arranging them in concentric circles around a cluster of olives, or in neat rows of alternating colours. I remember my delight and excitement in discovering that food was not only good to eat, but could be beautiful to look at, too. I stood enchanted, studying the way she folded napkins and laid small sprigs of holly beside each plate, a smile of delight on my face.

I had discovered my passion – beauty.

Growing up, I have always enjoyed the aesthetical side of things; I love setting the table for a special dinner, decorating the Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, arranging flowers, styling rooms…you name it. When I see something beautiful, I just cannot help but move closer to take a better look. I seek beauty with all my senses – the colours of a sunset, the smell of vanilla, the taste of ripe apricots, the sound of birds singing, the feel of silk on the skin, they are all aspects of beauty, and they all have a place in my blog.

Besides being attracted to beauty, I also love to share and to inspire.  I set up Positively Beauty  to share my photos, my recipes,  interior design tips, inspiring videos…and anything else I find beautiful!

I believe that beauty is a positive aspect of life. Sure, there are many things around us that are ugly and painful, and I know that a pretty flower cannot solve problems, but it certainly can brighten a day. That’s what beauty does to me: it brings a ray of light into my world, it brings me joy. It moves me and encourages me to make this world a better place.

I wish with all my heart that my collection of beautiful things inspires you to do the same. If I can touch even just one person and inspire her or him to focus on the beautiful, joyous side of life, then I consider myself happy.

I love everything about this blogsite! The first sight – those pancakes – really thrilled me. Then all of that gorgeous furniture followed. I like your ideas, aesthetics, memories and musings.

You’ve created a huge feel-good factor here and I’ll pop in sometimes – especially when I’m feeling down – for a quick fix. Congratulations, Cristina!

Hi Cristina

I came across your aesthetically beautiful blog through A List Bloggers which I have very recently joined. It’s great to meet another Irishwoman out there in the blogoshpere, wherein I’ve been wandering like Alice in Bloggerland for the last few weeks. I am so enjoying all of this! Warmest wishes Rosemary aka Offbeat Woman

Cristina,
I am thrilled to meet a kindred spirit! I thrive on finding beauty in my everyday and as you know I’m now making it my life’s work too. How/where did you study to become an interior designer? I’ve subscribed and look forward to learning more from you – beautiful blog btw…

Hi – your email keeps bouncing back so I thought I’d reply here, its Ashlee from Legato Studio and you asked about mentioning our transforming table as an outdoor piece, which is fine.

We are working on photos of it in indoor settings, but not ready to share those yet unfortunately. I hope that doesn’t keep you from posting! Would you be interested in posting the video?

Yes, I guess especially now since we’re coming up on grilling outdoors/summer BBQ season, we are getting more and more feedback that people love Cambia for an outdoor piece. The one for my home, however, will be made of Corian, all white – so that one will be great for photographs indoors (once its finished)!

So yes, feel free to write about it in your voice and honestly – we really appreciate the feedback and interest. If you wouldn’t mind giving me some idea of when Cambia will be on positivelybeauty, that would be great. I have less time to read yours and other design postings than I used to, too busy with this table!
