Decorating with accessories: Sinead O’Moore delicate tea light bowls

by Cristina Colli

Hello my friends, how is your Summer going? Mine is quite busy, and organising our move is taking a bit chunk of my time…After much packing, this afternoon I finally ran out of boxes – what better excuse to take some time off? I took the opportunity to catch up with my favourite blogs and browse some inspirational sites – good thing I did that, because on Not On The High Street.com I came across some gorgeous ceramic tea light bowls made by Sinead O’Moore that I simply adore. Just have a look at them, and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with these beautiful creations too!

Each unique, these shells are press-moulded by hand and then finished with a crystalline glaze - they do look like fragile eggshells, and the glaze is stunning.

THis raspberry glaze is absolutely yummy!

White porcelain bowls with copper oxide burnt into the edge; the fine porcelain is semi-translucent and shows the warm glow of candle light.

Made with the same technique, this double bowl looks like a flower - exquisite.

Love the view from above!

Cute tiny bowls, some with a crystalline glaze and some coloured throughout; they look great grouped together, don't they?

A lovely combination of a long bowl with three smaller ones - again, absolutely exquisite.

It’s hard to find a favourite among these beauties, isn’t it? I love the shells with the crystalline glaze, and the double white bowls. What about you?

I love hearing from you, so please leave a comment to let me know your thoughts about this post, and if you like it share the link with others.

Wow, those are beautiful! I’ve just bought my first bag of porcelain, which is supposed to be quite finicky and hard to work with but which has a translucency and delicacy unachievable with stoneware. I’m a little surprised they don’t crack in the kiln when they’re so fine, especially when they’re only glazed on one side. I love it when artists push the limits of the medium they work with — the results can be stunning.

Just gorgeous. I love the translucent nature of thinly thrown porcelain. One day I have to just buy a chunk of porcelain clay and try it myself. Love her treatment and aesthetic. xo
