I seem to have neglected the interior design aspect of this blog, so today I’m posting some inspiring pictures featuring fireplaces. To me, a fireplace is truly the heart of the house; it gives warmth not just to the body, but also to the soul. A fireplace is comforting, makes the room cosy, and instantly becomes the focal point of the interior.
All these images show my love for white interiors, elegance, simplicity and clean lines.

I like the idea of using a small recess in the wall for storing fire logs – beside being functional, it’s a great way to add natural texture to the room.
A fireplace that opens on three sides can be enjoyed in two rooms, and even act as a divider, like in this renovated industrial space. Although I’m not a fan of wood panelling, the panelled feature wall works well here, thanks to the high ceiling and spacious interior.

I love the airy feeling of this interior, warmed up by the fireplace and natural texture of timber floor and wicker chairs.

Imagine sitting by this large open fire, gazing at the garden, the smell of baking bread wafting in from the kitchen…bliss! I like the feel of the modern open plan apartment, too, with the fireplace just in the middle of the living area.

Finally, a perfect example of the elegance of white on white, warmed up by natural texture.

Did I manage to inspire you, and maybe make you feel warmer?? Any favourite fireplace? Leave a comment and let me know

Cristina,
I love this home! I had an obsession for a long time with whites and beige. It felt so open and spacious – I just loved it in my condo with the cathedral ceiling. After that my 1927 arts & crafts colonial demanded a different style more in line with the home itself.
Hi Angela, glad to hear you enjoy these pictures. I love white and neutrals because they make me feel calm and because the space appears larger and airier. Of course I understand that the style of the house sometimes dictates the style of the interior, too…
Well maybe your next house will be white and beige again
Hi Cristina, I love the clean white interiors you’ve featured with these fireplace photos! At our store we sell a great little electric fireplace in white that’s just perfect for a white design scheme. It’s called the SOLUSION and it can be used as an insert (set inside of an existing fireplace), it can be hung on the wall or it can be boxed in with a mantel to create a new fireplace anywhere. Thought I’d share this product with you and your readers: http://www.gascoals.com/ELECTRICFires/ElectricFireplaceInserts/SOLUSION.aspx
