Rachel O’Neill and her magical lighting sculptures

by Cristina Colli

Contemporist recently published a post about Rachel O’Neill, a Northern Irish artist and designer, and I just fell in love with her work.

She mainly uses VELCRO®, with the addition of fabric, feathers, and metal finishes, to create whimsical, fluid, textural lighting sculptures that look stunning in both contemporary and traditional settings.

I love the organic, indefinite shapes and the tactile quality of her lights, which seem to come from an enchanted, fairytale world.

Rachel is a master at  evoking different moods using the same materials; her pieces can be striking, bold, dramatic.

They can be airy, delicate creations.

Or graceful, feminine  pieces.

These gorgeous lighting sculptures mesmerise me; if you feel the same and want to see more  of Rachel’s work, have a look at her website.
