Reader’s request: Jennifer’s bedroom

by Cristina Colli

Today’s post is about Jennifer’s bedroom.  Jennifer sent me photos of the main features of the room – furniture, artwork and carpet – and I used them to create a sample board.

Jennifer is looking for a new duvet cover, quilt or bedspread. She likes calm, relaxed interiors, and favours blues and greens. She’s partial to organic, natural looking patterns – especially leaves, twigs and trees – and wants something that makes her small room airy and bright.

The colour scheme of her bedroom is based on neutrals – a grey-green for the walls, and a light, warm tan for the floor. The artwork works well as a starting point of the colour scheme and can provide more inspiration.

Here are a few variations of colour to give you an idea of how a different bedspread can change the mood of the room.

White gives a fresh, crisp look to the room. Cream and light colours make the room bright and airy, a darker blue-green gives a more dramatic look, purple makes the scheme vibrant and a soft apricot warms it up.

Here are a few options that Jennifer might like:

Organic cotton duvet cover with hand painted motif; duvet fabric is available in other colours, and the paint colour can be personalised too.

“Hanna” by Pottery Barn

“Jackson” from Pottery Barn

Cushions and throws are a great way to add accent colours to simple, plain bedspreads; here are a few  lovely cushions that would work well with Jennifer’s colour scheme:

How sweet of you to put in all this work to help Jenniifer with her beautiful room. I like all the bedcovers you chose. Maybe Jennifer will share with us which one she decides on.

I enjoyed putting together this post, and I even found a couple of bedspreads that might be just perfect for my own bedroom :)
Thanks for stopping by Alison.

Cristina, thank you SO much for putting this together! I love the birds and twigs duvet (thinking I could draw my own, given a plain one) and the beech and bird pillow has my name all over it. I’m off to check out pretty things on Etsy now!

Great Jennifer, I’m happy this post inspired you. Etsy is full of wonderful things, sometimes I find it addictive…I thought you might like the birch & bird pillow :)

I love these colors! I’m inspired to look into how a simple bedspread make-over would update our bedroom! Thanks!
